Thanks to all of you who attended today’s “Parents as Learning Partners” workshop. The library inaugurated its new SMART Board, unveiled its new blog, and received some amazing feedback from parents on their concerns about their kids negotiating the 21st century media landscape. Please keep your comments coming! Right now, we are busy going through the notes parents provided on their hopes and fears for their kids as they venture online. We are putting up links to Common Sense and other informational sites, as well as the blogs and websites Gbemi suggested on online literature and literacy tools. We are so heartened by the parent body’s engagement on this important topic and are committed to providing support to families and teachers as they cross this challenging digital terrain.
