Unexpected Gifts

20 12 2013

Some unexpected gifts came to the BNS/BCS Library in the form of 3 great nonfiction books for our younger readers. Thank you BNS/BCS Library supporter and Slate science and medical columnist Amanda Schaffer for bringing these terrific new titles to our attention. Check out Amanda’s reviews and columnĀ here.

Now we want to bring them to yours. Share the reading joy!

Where To Donate Children’s Books

5 06 2013

imagesThe library is stuffed to the gills with donated books, and while we love to have them, we simply don’t have the space for any more!

We are in the same boat as Brooklyn Public Library which stopped taking donations from the public in 2011. On their website, they have a list of local organizations that do accept used books.

Here are a few more suggestions:

Better World Books

International Book Project

Book Ends

Take care to read each organization’s donation policy. Often, these organizations want books in good condition that are not more than five year old. Good luck!
