Poem in Your Pocket Day – 4/18

Girls with pocket-sized poems

Here are two for you:

FOG

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

–Carl Sandburg

There was an Old Man with a Beard

There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, “It is just as I feared!—
Two Owls and a Hen, four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard.

Edward Lear

We are delighted to announce that  Abby Hanlon will be visiting the library on Thursday, March 14! She meet with the BNS first grade classes to talk about her new book, Ralph Tells a Story.

Ralph Tells a Story is about a boy struggling to get over a serious case of writer’s block. With a little help from his his teacher, who tells him “stories are everywhere,” and a darling bunch of supportive classmates, he finds his writer’s voice.

Hanlon has received universally glowing reviews of her debut book. Kirkus Reviews calls Ralph Tells a Story,  “an engaging mix of gentle behavior modeling and inventive story ideas that may well provide just the push needed to get some budding young writers off and running.”

Copies of Ralph Tells a Story will be available in the Library and will also be featured on the BNS iStore.
